Description:

Free C++ source code, demonstrating a real-world implementation of the FTP Server API, is available for download for this full-featured client/server application. Everything you need to compile the client and server applications is provided in the download (except, of course, the Microsoft compiler.)

The HomeTalk Server allows you to use your personal internet account to host chat sessions on your home computer. These sessions can be available to the public or private to only those individuals that you allow.

Sessions are started through the use of an ActiveX control which must be stored on your web site along with a web page for access to your server. This web page will allow users to chat and transfer files to/from the server (depending on their permission settings.) In order to automatically transfer the files to your web site, you must be able to use FTP for the transfer process.

The user manager allows you to set up user accounts for specific users that you want to give access to your server. Permission groups may be created to restrict or permit various file maintenance or transfer options. You may also choose to allow anonymous access to your server by enabling the server's Open Door Policy.

The HomeTalk Server monitors your IP address and automatically sends changes to your web site. This ensures that users connecting to your server will never need to know your IP address. For those computers with network cards, you may choose to ignore one or more IP addresses that are associated with your PC.

A home-based server often needs to stay connected to the internet to be of much use. For this reason, options for maintaining an internet connection are available with the HomeTalk Server.
